285 politicians, campaigners, academics and civil society leaders have signed a letter to the Prime Minister calling on him to put in place a Universal Basic Income to protect UK households from future crises.
It’s really exciting to see broader support than ever before from politicians and leaders across our political life, including Sadiq Khan, Andy Burnham, Caroline Lucas, Tracy Brabin, Clive Lewis, Christine Jardine, Ronnie Cowan, and John McDonnell.
These politicians are joined by trade union leaders, psychologists, community leaders, organisers, theatre directors, political whistleblowers and civil society leaders in calling for this policy.
Basic income has brought together Vote Leave whistleblower Shahmir Sanni, viral anti-poverty campaigner Jack Monroe, co-author of the ground breaking work on inequality The Spirit Level Professor Kate Pickett, and 80+ more influential civil society leaders.
The country is uniting behind a basic income for all – that’s how it becomes real.
