The Compass membership has voted overwhelmingly to support Ed Miliband in becoming the new Labour leader. They have done so because, much more than any other candidate, he offers the possibility of the kind of real change our country needs.

Last night in Local Government House over 200 people gathered at the Compass Post-Election Rally - After the election: what next for centre-left politics? This was a meeting not just about the Labour Party but about the future of the centre-left.

As public cynicism about the world of politics mounts, it is refreshing to see a queue snaking out of the door of the Quaker Meeting House a full thirty minutes before the start of a meeting launching a Compass group in Liverpool.

The Compass Management Committee recently had a routine meeting and had a conversation about the political situation and the uphill struggle facing Labour and its leadership. Sadly some of the conversation was given to the press. Compass is increasingly concerned by the threat of a Tory victory at the next election.
